Good day!

Since it’s February, that means Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! On this day, we celebrate love, friendship, and admiration for the people who are dear to us. For this month, we’ve sung a beautiful song to express our love and appreciation for our special ones.

Here is the lyrics for the Skidamarink.

“Skidamarink”:

Skidamarink a dink a dink,
Skidamarink a doo,
I love you.

Skidamarink a dink a dink,
Skidamarink a doo,
I love you.

I love you in the morning,
And in the afternoon,
I love you in the evening,
And underneath the moon.

Skidamarink a dink a dink,
Skidamarink a doo,
I love you.

It’s a simple but sweet song that expresses love and affection in a fun way!

We are also continuing to teach the alphabet, but unlike last month, where we paused before introducing the next letter to give the children a chance to anticipate it, this time we are shuffling the letters using the same flashcards for better memorization.

Setsubun Festival

This month is also the celebration for Setsubun Festival. Setsubun is a traditional Japanese festival that marks the day before the beginning of spring. The main purpose of Setsubun is to drive away evil spirits and bring in good fortune for the coming year.

The children at the nursery did the bean-throwing ritual. Where they throw roasted soybeans at the oni (a demon or ogre) while shouting, “Oni wa soto! Fuku wa uchi!” (“Out with the demons! In with good fortune!”). The idea is that the beans will scare away evil spirits and purify the home for the new year.

Story telling time!

We’re off to a fun start and are looking forward to sharing more enjoyable experiences this month!
